In der NHL-Saison 2006/07 versuchten die Toronto Maple Leafs , sich von einer Saison 2005/06 zu erholen, in der sie zwei Punkte vor dem letzten Playoff-Platz in der Eastern Conference beendeten .

Außerhalb der Saison

Michael Peca war eine wichtige Ergänzung des Teams für 2006-07, unterzeichnet von der Verteidigung der Western Conference Champion Edmonton Oilers . Peca erlitt jedoch im Dezember einen Beinbruch, nachdem er in 35 Spielen nur 4 Tore erzielt hatte.

Torwart Andrew Raycroft wurde von den Boston Bruins erworben , um die durch Ed Belfours Abgang zu den Florida Panthers geschaffene Stelle zu übernehmen .

Reguläre Saison

Am 4. Januar 2007 besiegten die Maple Leafs die Boston Bruins 10-2 auswärts. Alexander Steen erzielte beim Sieg einen Hattrick. Es war das erste Mal seit dem 14. Januar 2006, als die Buffalo Sabres die Los Angeles Kings zu Hause mit 10:1 besiegten, dass ein NHL-Team zehn Tore in einem regulären Saisonspiel erzielte . Es war auch das erste Mal, dass die Maple Leafs seit dem 12. November 1998, als sie die Chicago Blackhawks auswärts mit 10-3 besiegten, zehn Tore in einem regulären Saisonspiel erzielten .

Obwohl sie in der Northeast Division den dritten Platz belegten , konnten sich die Maple Leafs letztendlich nicht für die Playoffs qualifizieren, nachdem die New York Islanders nach einem 3: 2-Sieg in einem Shootout gegen die New Jersey Devils den achten und letzten Playoff-Platz erreichten und nur knapp einen Punkt aus dem letzten Playoff-Platz in der Eastern Conference .

Playoffs

Am 8.
