Anne-Katrin Purkiss ist Fotografin, geboren 1959 in Karl-Marx-Stadt , Deutschland, und zog 1984 nach Großbritannien, nachdem sie 1983 ihr Studium an der Universität Leipzig abgeschlossen hatte. Ihr Vater Joachim Seyffarth (1928–2014) war ein deutscher Denkmalpfleger und Fotograf.
Ihr Sculptors-Projekt dokumentiert Bildhauer in ihrem Arbeitsumfeld und umfasst Porträts von Elisabeth Frink , Kenneth Armitage , Andy Goldsworthy , Sir Anthony Caro und Lynn Chadwick .
Eine Sammlung ihrer Porträts britischer Wissenschaftler befindet sich im Besitz der Royal Society und wurde teilweise in einer Ausstellung in der National Portrait Gallery gezeigt, darunter Porträts von Sir Alec Jeffreys , Lord Darzi , Sir Martin Evans , Sir Tim Hunt und Dame Louise Johnson .
Sie erstellte fotografische Aufzeichnungen der Restaurierung der Watts Gallery in Compton, Surrey, zwischen 2008 und 2011 und von JMW Turner's House Sandycombe Lodge in Twickenham, London, von 2016 bis 2017.
Ihr Frühwerk umfasst eine Vielzahl von Fotografien ihrer Kindheit und Jugend in der DDR, die in der Deutschen Nationalbibliothek katalogisiert sind.
Sie arbeitet hauptsächlich in Schwarz-Weiß, mit verfügbarem Licht und Hasselblad .
Werke in öffentlichen Sammlungen
In der Sammlung der National Portrait Gallery befinden sich über 100 fotografische Porträts von Purkiss, darunter Porträts von Denis Thatcher , Enoch Powell , Simon Rattle und Georg Solti . Ihre Arbeiten befinden sich auch in den Sammlungen der Bibliothek der Royal Academy of Arts , der Royal Society in London, des Henry Moore Institute , Leeds, des Archivs der Tate Gallery und der National Art Library.
