Das Celtic Media Festival , früher bekannt als Celtic Film and Television Festival , hat zum Ziel, die Sprachen und Kulturen der keltischen Nationen in Film, Fernsehen, Radio und neuen Medien zu fördern . Das Festival ist ein jährliches dreitägiges Fest für Rundfunk und Film aus Schottland, Irland, Wales, Isle of Man, Galicien, Cornwall und der Bretagne . Das Festival wurde 1980 gegründet.
Geschichte
Das Festival fand erstmals 1980 auf den schottischen Inseln South Uist und Benbecula statt . Das 30. Festival fand im März 2009 in Caernarfon , Wales, statt. Das 40. Festival fand in Aviemore, Schottland, statt. Das Festival vergibt die Torc Awards an die Gewinner von 26 verschiedenen Kategorien.
Das Festival überreicht dem Gewinner des Spirit of the Festival Award auch einen Gold Torc - ein Film- oder Fernsehprogramm, das ganz oder im Wesentlichen in einer keltischen Sprache gehalten ist und den Geist des Celtic Media Festivals widerspiegelt.
