Nordamerika-Cup-Ära

Für die Saisons 1987 und 1988 war die Liga als Eagle Pro Box Lacrosse League bekannt; Von der Saison 1989 bis zum Ende der Saison 1997 war die Liga als Major Indoor Lacrosse League bekannt. 1998 wurde die Major Indoor Lacrosse League zur National Lacrosse League. Während der gesamten Nicht-NLL-Namensära (1987-1997) wurde dem Ligameister eine andere Trophäe namens North American Cup verliehen. Es war eine große, magere, silberfarbene Trophäe, die dem Stanley Cup ein wenig ähnelte .
