Scipione affricano ( Scipio Africanus ) ist eine Oper in einem Prolog und drei Akten von Francesco Cavalli . Es wurde als Dramma per Musica bezeichnet . Das italienische Libretto stammt von Nicolò Minato und basiert auf Livys " The Continence of Scipio ".
Leistungshistorie
Es wurde erstmals in Venedig im Teatro SS aufgeführt. Giovanni e Paolo am 9. Februar 1664. Es wurde auch 1671 in Rom mit dem Kastraten Giovanni Francesco Grossi als gefeiertes Siface gegeben. Giovanni Buonaventura Viviani produzierte 1678 eine stark überarbeitete Version der Oper für den Karneval von Venedig .
