Der stimmlose velare Frikativ ist eine Art konsonanter Laut, der in einigen gesprochenen Sprachen verwendet wird . Es war Teil des Konsonanteninventars des Altenglischen und kann noch in einigen Dialekten des Englischen gefunden werden , vor allem im schottischen Englisch , zB in loch , broch oder saugh ( willow ).
Das Symbol im Internationalen Phonetischen Alphabet , das diesen Laut repräsentiert, ist ⟨ x ⟩, der lateinische Buchstabe x . Es wird auch in breiter Transkription anstelle des Symbols ⟨ χ ⟩, dem griechischen Chi , für den stimmlosen Zwerchfell-Frikativ verwendet .
In einigen Sprachen gibt es auch einen stimmlosen postvelaren Frikativ (auch Präuvular genannt ). Für stimmlosen prävelaren Frikativ (auch postpalatinal genannt ) siehe stimmloser Gaumenfrikativ .
Merkmale
Merkmale des stimmlosen velaren Frikativs:
- Seine Artikulationsart ist frikativ , das heißt, er wird erzeugt, indem der Luftstrom durch einen engen Kanal an der Artikulationsstelle eingeengt wird, wodurch Turbulenzen verursacht werden .
- Seine Artikulationsstelle ist velar , das heißt, er ist mit dem Zungenrücken (dem Zungenrücken) am weichen Gaumen artikuliert .
- Seine Phonation ist stimmlos, das heißt ohne Schwingungen der Stimmbänder. In einigen Sprachen werden die Stimmbänder aktiv getrennt, so dass sie immer stimmlos sind; in anderen sind die Schnüre locker, so dass sie die Intonation benachbarter Laute annehmen können.
- Es ist ein oraler Konsonant , das heißt, die Luft darf nur durch den Mund entweichen.
- Es ist ein zentraler Konsonant , was bedeutet, dass er erzeugt wird, indem der Luftstrom entlang der Mitte der Zunge statt zu den Seiten geleitet wird.
- Der Luftstrommechanismus ist pulmonal , was bedeutet, dass er , wie bei den meisten Geräuschen , nur mit der Lunge und dem Zwerchfell gelenkt wird.

Auftreten
Es wird postuliert, dass der stimmlose Velar-Frikativ und seine labialisierte Varietät im Proto-Germanischen , dem Vorfahren der germanischen Sprachen , als Reflex der proto-indoeuropäischen stimmlosen Gaumen- und Velar-Stopps und des labialisierten stimmlosen Velar-Stopps aufgetreten sind . So wurde Proto-Indoeuropäisch * ḱ r̥nom "Horn" und * kʷ ód "was" zu Proto-Germanisch * h urnan und * hw at, wobei *h und *hw wahrscheinlich [x] und [xʷ] waren . Diese Lautänderung ist Teil des Grimmschen Gesetzes .
Im Neugriechischen entstand der stimmlose velare Frikativ (mit seinem Allophon der stimmlose Gaumenfrikativ [ ç ] , der vor den vorderen Vokalen auftritt) aus dem altgriechischen stimmlosen Aspirationsregister /kʰ/ in einer Lautänderung, die griechische Aspirationsregister in Frikative lenitierte .
